Bedford Cup

The Youth Tennis Foundation (YTF) has sponsored tournaments for all Division I collegiate tennis teams in the state of Florida, both men's and women's, since 2011, except for the Covid year of 2021. We have been able to do so thanks to the financial support of the Bedford Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization.

There are 12 D-I men's and women's teams in Florida at this time:

• Florida State (FSU)
• Miami (UM)
• South Florida (USF)
• Central Florida (UCF)
• Florida Gulf Coast (FGC)
• North Florida (UNF)
• Stetson (SU)
• Florida A & M (FAMU)
• Florida Atlantic (FAU)
• Bethune-Cookman (BCU)
• Florida International (FIU)

All expenses are paid for the colleges to attend.

Supporting the Game of Tennis

The YTF, which is a 501(c)(3) organization serving the Florida Tennis community since 1962, does so in furtherance of its mission statement in order to assist and develop the game of tennis for the youth of our state.

At the time the program was initiated, many colleges and universities were dropping the sport of tennis from their athletic programs, since it is not a "revenue-making" activity, such as football or basketball. Other sports were being eliminated from collegiate athletics as well.

Teams are in various conferences, such as the SEC, the ACC, the American Athletic Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN), and did not regularly compete against each other. The idea was to create a tournament for Florida schools only. It has been a tremendous success and has been replicated in other states and regions around the country.
